The sinh is a traditional Lao tubular skirt that is still worn today. This lumbar pillow is made from a fabric that was destined to become a sinh.
Ping, the artisan weaver, states that she handwove a cotton body and wove the silk onto the fabric to form the bottom of the skirt rather than doing it the traditional way- weaving two pieces and stitching it together. She said she prefers this method because the color scheme compliments each other nicely.
